Located in Gaylord, in the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, we provide full-service instruction to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A unrestricted.
It is the mission of Road Warrior Truck Driving School Inc to graduate the most competent, safety-minded, professional drivers the industry has to offer.
Work environment: This position involves indoor classroom instruction as well as outside work in any weather environment or condition. Courses run Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm. We limit class size to four students per truck for a more personalized learning experience and maximum drive time. Classes are 120 hour, 3-week courses consisting of 1 week in the classroom followed by 2 weeks of hands-on and behind-the-wheel driving experience. Occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide training/instruction in a classroom setting.
- Maintain training records as required by the State of Michigan.
- Comply with company policies as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
- Demonstrate professionalism in manner, communication, and presentation.
- Abide by and enforce School rules and policies.
- Adhere to approved School classroom curriculum and standards established by senior instructors.
- Provide instruction in the classroom, training yard, garage, and off-campus driving situations.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Monitor all students progress for unsatisfactory performance or issues that warrant discussion.
- Maintain a professional work attitude.
- Any other assigned duties as needed.
- Preferred: Already possess or be able to qualify for a Michigan Driver's Education Instructor Certificate in Truck Driver Training from the State of Michigan.
Requirements: For this position, you must already possess a valid CDL Class A unrestricted license with a minimum of 5 years verifiable CDL Class A driving experience.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience teaching or presenting information in a classroom setting
- Have a valid MDOT Medical Card
- Have excellent presentation skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain a good driving record
- Have general knowledge of heavy duty trucks
- Ability to learn new tasks and procedures
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Cover all areas of instruction according to approved curriculum
- Pre-Trip Inspections
- Straight line backing
- Off-set backing
- 90 Degree backing
- Shifting manual transmissions up and down
- Lane centering, lane changes
- Freeway driving
- Town driving
- Performing right and left turns
- Hazard perception
- Maintain student attendance and driving logs
- Provide remediation training
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, drive, and walk during an 8 hour shift
- On occasion be able to work more than 8 hours in one day
- Able to speak clearly, legibly, and accurately to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to students
Compensation: Based on experience and educational background.
