Job Summary:Responsible for the accurate and precise performance of both routine and complex laboratory procedures. Report results in an accurate and timely manner. Perform or recommend follow-up testing. Maintain laboratory instruments, quality control testing, and records of activity as well as evaluate records for trends and problems. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science. ASCP certification, or equivalent, required. Current BCLS/CPR or obtained within 3 months of hire. Skills, Talents and Abilities: Work is performed in accordance with standard procedures or routines. However, some operating freedom is used to organize work, set priorities and adapt to routine operational situations. Significant analytical ability is required. Typical analysis involves the application of diverse conceptual data requiring a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

Position Accountabilities:1.Perform routine and complex testing

  1. Validate accuracy of test results and initiate follow-up activities. 3. Interpret abnormal test results and initiate follow-up appointment when necessary.

  2. Report and communicate test results in an accurately and timely manner.

5.Ensure routine quality control on all testing procedures and routine maintenance on all instruments to ensure accurate test results. 6. Obtain patient specimens.

  1. Prepare and evaluate reagents and test materials. Maintain sufficient test materials

  2. Assist with orientation of new employees and students.

9.Guide the MLT's and laboratory assistants in organizing work flow and resolution of complex testing or problems.

10.Develop, evaluate, or revise new test procedures.

  1. Participates in laboratory Unit Based Council or other hospital related quality improvement initiatives.

12.Other duties as requested or assigned.
