Position Summary Information

General Summary

This opportunity is available for current WSSC Water employees only.

TheMaterials Planner IIoperates and maintains a production plant MRO warehouse, stockroom(s) and/or store yard. Manages the inventory program at these locations and ensures parts are on hand to meet operational needs through the use and management of various supply contracts.

Essential Functions

· Provides comprehensive logistics support services to a Production Team facility by managing services and supply contracts, placing credit card transactions, sourcing unanticipated requirements, and performing associated warehouse management functions such as materials receiving, stocking, issuing, cycle counting, and asset creation

· Places material delivery releases against awarded inventory commodity contracts to support Production Team’s facility improvements and maintenance requirements

· Responsible to monitor key performance indicators and supply data on assigned contracts, including stock turn, burn rate, late deliveries, rejections, and sub-contracting requirements

· Works closely with vendors to resolve any performance problems. Takes formal action to report out of compliance situations to the Procurement Dept. using established formal mechanisms

· Processes changes/modifications requests against assigned contracts and performs contract closeout activities

· Monitors supply and manufacturer’s data, including specifications, unit costs, and units. Sets max/min reorder points using forecasting reports to meet demand and balance stock levels with inventory turns aimed at the elimination of stock-outs

· Communicates with plant maintenance or operational staff in order to furnish contract support, logistics operations sustainment, work order parts planning, and service level expectations

· Operates a variety of powered and non-powered warehouse equipment such as: forklifts, trucks, stretch wrappers handcarts and dollies

· Operates Commission vehicles; provides coverage at various other WSSC Water locations when needed

Other Functions

· Trains staff in the operation of routine or specific warehousing functions

· Fills in as a backup resource at other sites

· Knowledgeable of public procurement business processes

· Knowledge of asset, BOM , work order relationships & process

· Performs other related duties, as assigned

Work Environment And Physical Demands

Industrial warehouse

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

· Ability to manage contracts and projects

· Knowledge of contemporary methods, techniques and practices of inventory management and control and warehouse practices/procedures, work order management

· Skill in operating MS Office software

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

· Strong customer service skills

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

· High School diploma (or equivalent)

· 4+ years inventory control and project or contract management experience

Additional Requirements

· Possession of a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain a WSSC Water vehicle operator’s permit within 90 days of hire or transfer

· Employees in this position are designated or considered emergency personnel; therefore, the employee must report to work as scheduled or as directed by their supervisor when WSSC Water declares an event that requires emergency personnel to report to work

Preferences

· Possession of nationally recognized procurement certification: ISM , CPSM , PMP

· Experience with Oracle software

· Public procurement experience

· Familiarity with industrial MRO supplies such as including pipes, valves, fittings, motors, belts, bearings, industrial equipment, and industrial electrical supplies

Salary$28.34 - $48.18 per hour
