North American Stainless AP Process Engineer in GHENT, Kentucky

Responsible for managing the production activities associated with the chemical processes, including the annealing and pickling processes, of stainless steel plants and mills and related water treatment facilities to assure the highest level of productivity, quality, and safety. Monitor key operating parameters to ensure daily consistency with stainless steel production rates and quality. Troubleshoot problems with chemical manufacturing processes involved in annealing and pickling process for production of stainless steel. Review daily the quality and production rates for all AP lines. Coordinate with maintenance and technical department engineers with respect to adverse line conditions and chemical material defects. Identification of hazards and assessment of risk in the stainless steel production process. Develop improvement projects based on the analytical review of historical data involving chemical processes, such as annealing and pickling processes. Coordinate with group leaders and engineers to implement projects, involving quality, production, reliability, efficiency, and in-line consumables. Assist in managing unit costs for the AP lines and water treatment facilities and prepare estimates of stainless steel production costs and reports for management. Review technical safety procedures related to stainless steel production processes. Manage and develop safety procedures for the AP process group and implement and maintain safety procedures, including procedures to protect employees working in close proximity to chemical reactions. Assist in managing appropriate inventory levels for all AP Lines and supporting unit consumables. Assist in managing the operations of all water treatment facilities to insure all operations are within standard operating limits and output of water standards necessary to avoid environmental incidents. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is required. Proficiency in reviewing technical safety procedures related to production processes as shown by one month of work experience in this area and proficiency in identification of hazards and assessment of risk in the production process as shown by one month of work experience in this area are required. Pre- or post-degree experience in developing these skills is acceptable, including experience during or as part of academic studies. Job located at 6870 Highway 42E, Ghent, KY 41045.
