Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Production Planning Scheduling Manager 3 to join our leadership team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position has cognizance over production, planning, scheduling, material storage, and material handling for the Tactical Space Systems Division. This position has direct reports and teams located in both Dulles, VA and Gilbert, AZ.

This position may be located in either Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of all Planning, Property, and Logistics process execution from contract award through customer delivery.

  • Plans and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods and related material through production and inventory processes.

  • Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules.

  • Prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.

  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.

  • Leads efforts to provide planning and logistical support to all Work Centers in Manufacturing and Integration & Test as well as key functional activities to ensure successful execution of schedules and objectives.

  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding the safety, quality, delivery, employee and cost expectations of internal and external customers for the Planning, Property & Logistics efforts across all TSSD programs.

  • Manages multiple conflicting priorities across programs and Work Centers by collaborating with Master Scheduling and other downstream internal customers to ensure priority alignment.

  • Follows escalation protocol to communicate / escalate key issues related to safety, quality, delivery, employee and cost upward to site leadership and downward into the organization.

  • Collects, analyzes, and reports metrics / key performance indicators (first pass yield, queue times, etc.) and then take appropriate action to mitigate risks and improve team performance.

  • Supports Manufacturing Directorate and Business Support Functions (Finance, HR, etc.) to achieve product and site goals (also including DLY, OH rate management).

  • Intense focus and ownership of employee development & growth.

  • Ensures discipline and continuous improvement of all process standards.

  • Drives implementation and alignment of ERP System elements (CostPoint, SyncManufacturing, MES, and other related production execution tools).

  • Ensures compliance for system usage. Leads efforts to implement process improvements for ERP execution.

  • Ensures accountability of all Inventory and Property within TSSD.

  • Instills process discipline for maintaining positive control of material, tooling, and property.

  • Ensures TSSD compliance to MMAS and NGC Corporate audit standards for MRP, Material Management, and Inventory Control.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance

  • 10 years of experience in supply chain, material planning, and/or engineering discipline

  • Bachelor’s degree wiin business, engineering, operations, supply chain, or related degree.

  • 7 years of people leadership experience managing a team of direct reports

  • Strong communication skills with ability to develop and maintain good communications and working relationships with internal and external clients.

  • Proven accomplishments in operational cost reductions and process improvements.

  • Working knowledge of Federal and Defense contracting requirements including ITAR and FAR/DFAR

  • Experience with CostPoint, SAP, or comparable ERP software

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power Point or Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business or engineering

  • APICS Certification

  • PMP or similar certification

  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

  • Experience with US defense procurement requirements (FAR/DFAR).

  • Strong understanding of Northrop Grumman culture and demonstrated success effectively working within company’s organization, processes, and procedures

  • Strong Scheduling and Analytical skills.

  • Experience standing up tools / processes / production schedules / metrics.

  • Experience in high-mix low-volume and/or high-rate manufacturing environments.

Salary Range: $117,300 - $175,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
