Job Summary

The First Line Engineering Manager-Mechanical Design Engineering is responsible for supervising and managing the activities of engineers, engineering technicians and other support staff at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, organize, develop, and oversee personnel and activities for the Mechanical Design Engineering group within the Site Design Engineering Department. This position reports to the Manager of Design Engineering.

  • Monitor and manage performance of assigned individuals. This includes performance management and salary administration.

  • Prioritize and approve work.

  • Demonstrate and reinforce Technical Conscience principles.

  • Ensure work products meet procedural, technical and quality requirements and standards.

  • Actively monitor behaviors and coach for continuous improvement.

  • Develop and implement procedures necessary to ensure consistency and quality in work group processes and products.

  • Provide timely resolution to technical problems to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation.

  • Provide engineering recommendations to support plant operations.

  • Control costs within approved budget limits.

  • Review, apply, and incorporate operating experience, self-assessments, benchmarking and best practices to improve the effectiveness of day-to-day engineering functions.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • At least 5 years nuclear experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related Science

  • Technical understanding of nuclear plant processes, programs, and procedures

  • Knowledge of nuclear codes, standards and regulations

  • Familiarity with budgeting, planning and scheduling

  • Professional Engineer Registration (preferred)

  • SRO Certification/License (preferred)

  • Knowledge of civil/structural design engineering practices, procedures, and analytical methods surrounding the subject matter

  • Experience in supervising/leading a technical staff or group

  • Experience with nuclear engineering systems, components, processes or programs
