City Of Glenwood Springs Private Swim Instructor in Glenwood Springs, Colorado
POSITION SUMMARY: Conduct private swim lessons for participants of all ages and abilities in the Aquatics Center at the Glenwood Springs Community Center following American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program curriculum.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Aquatics Supervisor DIRECT REPORTS ASSIGNED: 0 JOB LOCATION: Community Center, 100 Wulfsohn Rd, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Part-time HOURS: Not to exceed 28 hours per week
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Coordinate with participant and/or guardian and Aquatics Supervisor to schedule sessions. 2. Prepare lesson plans for private swim lessons. 3. Gather, stage, and return necessary equipment. 4. Instruct participants independently. 5. Maintain a safe and inviting learning environment for participants. 6. Communicate with participants and parents/guardians of participants before and/or after swim lessons the information to be covered, any areas of excellence or needed improvement, and plans for the next swim lesson. 7. Complete and provide achievement cards to participants at end of session. 8. Distribute Program Feedback forms to participants or parents/guardians at end of session. 9. Inform Aquatics Supervisor of session completion, reschedules, and new sessions. 10. Positively interact with and provide exceptional customer service to the general public.

Demonstrate the ability to perform front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS: Necessary: Must be at least 16 years of age or older. Must have current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification, State Certified Teaching License, USA Swimming or American Swimming Coaches Association coach certification, or have 2 years verifiable swim instruction experience. CPR/First Aid/AED certification but be obtained within 90 days of hire.
