BluePearl Emergency Veterinary Technician - PT in Golden Valley, Minnesota

Position: Emergency Veterinary Technician (CVT licensing not required) with our ER/ICU department.

Work Schedule : Part-Time with 1 or 2-day work week options

Pay Range: $25.00 - $36.00/hour, based on experience and credentials

Shifts: Flexible swing and overnight shifts

Flexibility: Work just 1 or 2 days a week with customizable shift options!

Example bi-weekly schedules include, but are not limited to:

  • Week 1: Sunday (7 PM - 7 AM) / Week 2: Monday (7 PM - 7 AM) Week 1: Sunday (4 PM - 2 AM) / Week 2: Monday (4 PM – 2 AM)

Competitive Shift Differentials: Earn more with our shift differentials!

  • Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $3.50

  • Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $3.50

  • Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): $5.00

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician , You Will:

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.

  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.

  • Assist with or perform CT, endoscopy, and ultrasonography.

  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.

  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes and issues.

  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

  • Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

  • Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

  • Place and maintain feeding tubes, drains, PICC line catheters, and central line catheters.

  • Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

  • Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R (basic and advanced) CPR guidelines. ALS and BLS certification is provided at no cost to you.
