COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GRAND FORKS, EAST GRAND FORKS, AND REGION Development Director in Grand Forks, North Dakota

LOCATION: Grand Forks, ND REPORTS TO: Executive Director COMPENSATION: $60,000 - $70,000 STATUS: Full-time, 40 hours/week

EXPECTATIONS: The Development Director is a dynamic role that is expected to support the goals and mission of the Community Foundation, abide by the organizations policies and procedures, and perform all duties outlined in the job description in an ethical and professional manner. This person will direct development efforts by planning, overseeing, and reviewing effective development and planned giving programs to increase assets that serve the Community Foundations organizational goals. In addition, this person will work with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and other Foundation staff to provide support and leadership for collaborative efforts that increase philanthropy in our region.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement a diverse, comprehensive, and strategic development plan for the Community Foundation under the direction of the Executive Director and in coordination with the board. Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors and prospective donors, nonprofit organizations, and professional advisers for the long-term benefit of the Community Foundation. Ensure that all specific gift intentions are completed, and all appropriate documents are properly signed, executed, and filed accordingly. Provide planned giving expertise to donors, nonprofit organizations, and prospective donors for the purpose of establishing funds at the Community Foundation. Work with nonprofit organizations to establish a planned giving program and assist their development efforts with complex gift situations and opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with new and current donors through phone calls, personal visits, and written correspondence. Create opportunities to educate donors about the greater community to broaden their personal philanthropy. Assist in the education of donor prospects, professional advisors, and organizations about benefits and uses of the Community Foundation. Communicate with donors to identify ongoing needs for expanded and improved Community Foundation services. Collaborate with board and staff to identify opportunities to expand the Foundations impact in the community and to attract existing donor involvement and new donors. Assure a smooth transition for new donors from fund creation to ongoing donor relations. Develop and implement strategies to assist donors to serve philanthropic interests. As needed, represent the Foundation at community, donor, professional advisor, and grantee functions.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES Commitment to the Foundations mission and values. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Strong public speaking experience and ability. Personal enthusiasm for and commitment to philanthropy. Aptitude for problem-solving and multitasking when necessary. Ability to work in a team environment and initiative to work alone. Ability to interact respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures. Flexibility and the ability to adjust activities and assume new responsibilities. Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements regarding all client and personnel information. This includes information transmitted both verbally and in writing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree or equivalent in the areas of communication, finance, nonprofit management, or other related fields. Two years of fundraising and planned giving experience with demonstrated ability to raise substantial funds from individuals, businesses, private foundations, and other potential contributors. Experience in developing and implementing successfully planned and major gift programs preferred. Experience and knowledge of foundations, fund management, and the regional nonprofit sector, including programs, organizations, and agencies. Highly proficient in Micros ft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Knowledge of Foundant software is preferred (CSuite and GLM).

COMPENSATION This is a full-time position with a compensation range of $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience. Benefits include:
