Cirrus Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor in Grand Forks, North Dakota

Supervisory Responsibility:
Lead a team of approximately 8-16 people. Manage assignments of staff to projects. Develop team member skills, progression plans, and performance reviews, and provide growth opportunities, recognition and rewards. Monitor and provide training, mentoring and onboarding for team members. Hire and terminate employees within the discipline. Employee performance management, including annual performance reviews
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Oversee the approach and completion of project deliverables from the team to meet the Corporate project objectives. Provide oversight for employee technical performance for the group.
Manage acquisition, repair, and maintenance of tools, molds, other handling equipment which may involve coordination with other departments/locations.
Review department documents and ensure standards and best practices are being followed in all products such as drawings, specifications, plans and reports, and design reviews.
Develop, implement, and monitor improved project processes, tools, metrics, and skills used by the team to create project deliverables that result in better product launches (SQDC).
Report weekly on project and organization status
Distribute and enforce policy and guidance from Senior Management
Manage area goals and objectives.
Own area key performance indicators and adjust performance as required·
Attend required leadership classes (Leadership Essentials each year, New supervisor class)
Meet regularly with the group to pass information up and down
Provide training to department personnel. Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
Mentor other engineers and technicians in best practices.

Education and/or Experience:
- Four-year degree from an accredited college in an Engineering field or equivalent. Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering discipline supporting manufacturing and/or product development activities. Leadership experience is preferred.

Technical skills - Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles to produce precision technical plans, drawings, and models. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
Technical skills –Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. This includes Lean Manufacturing techniques and facility layout and requirements specification.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company. Strong presentation skills. Articulates ideas clearly and concisely in a variety of settings, adjusting the message to match the audience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Organization/Multi-tasking skills: Skilled at coordinating multiple efforts, organizing and prioritizing work, communicating technical issues, and supervising a team of individuals with differing levels of skill and experience, enabling them to achieve performance and quality standards.
Project Management: Ability to drive projects to completion using tools and tactics to specify scope, schedule, and resource requirements.
Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and lead a systematic approach to determine root cause and corrective actions.
Composure: Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues. Remains productive, provides solutions, and meets goals in challenging situations.
Financial: Proficient at maintaining budgets and cost effectiveness; interprets financial reports and takes appropriate corrective actions.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft office and computer usage/application. CAD software skills desired – skills in Creo preferred. Knowledge of ERP and MES systems desired.
Quality: High attention to detail and accuracy; Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and determine root cause of problems.
Professionalism: Tactfulness and respect in working with others regardless of their status or position or the urgency of situations; Acceptance of responsibility for own actions; Integrity in following through on commitments.
Attendance/Punctuality: Punctuality in arrival times and observance of appropriate break and meal periods; acceptable attendance record and proper utilization time clocks and time off request forms.

Language: Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
