About this Role

Lineman Apprentice B is an intermediate-level apprentice who has gained foundational skills in distribution line work. This role involves supporting more complex tasks, including the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, with an increasing emphasis on energized distribution work under the direct supervision of a qualified lineman. The Lineman Apprentice B will further develop technical skills while expanding their knowledge of safety protocols.Position is located in the DFW/Metro within 150-200 miles

What You'll Do

Job Responsibilities

• Assist journeyman linemen in installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground distribution lines.

• Perform pole climbing and work on poles, towers, and other structures with increasing independence.

• Learn to string wires, install transformers, and perform basic troubleshooting on electrical systems.

• Handle equipment and tools for line work, including performing basic maintenance and inspections.

• Work with energized systems under supervision and adhere to strict safety standards.

• Continued learning and development of climbing skill, rigging, and line structure installation, equipment installation and knowledge of how it works in the electrical system.

• Phasing or paralleling secondary circuits.

• efficient with the operation of the digger derrick ie. digging and setting poles, as well moving overhead pole mounted equipment

• Taking voltage, amperage, or resistance readings on primary/secondary circuits.

• Attend safety meetings and adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

What You'll Bring

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.

• 2 - 3 years of experience in a lineman apprenticeship or related field.

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and tools used in line work.

• Walking and working across uneven terrain.

• Valid Driver’s License and a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  Physical Requirements:

• Work from heights.

• Able to lift 60 lbs unassisted.

• Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

  Skills Requirements:

• Possess critical thinking skills.

• Able to effectively communicate with others.

• Ability to communicate in writing.
