POSITION SUMMARY

Applies engineering techniques and provides engineering services in the design, specification, construction and start-up of new and improved production processes, equipment, buildings and support systems. Recommends manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective, and to promote safety, quality and reliability. Assesses current equipment and processes and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoots and guides repairs on equipment. Trains personnel in equipment usage and processes. Performs work with a high degree of latitude and independence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Capital Project Execution (60%):
  • Participate in development and administration of the capital plan, defining project initiatives based upon business/operational needs or opportunities.

  • Lead the scope, cost and schedule development of capital projects and prepare justifications for expenditures with cost benefit analysis.

  • Prepare layout designs and equipment and facility specifications to meet the requirements of the process or desired improvement.

  • Design, evaluate and select equipment and exchange information with vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure accurate specifications, quotes and delivery schedules.

  • Create and maintain timelines on projects to assure they are completed on schedule.

  • Coordinate and direct installation of equipment and services with equipment suppliers, service contractors, operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Support start-up of manufacturing processes and equipment including transitioning of responsibilities to Operations after project scope has been met.

  • Develop work instructions and provide for the documented training of operators and maintenance personnel on all new and improved equipment and support systems implemented and assist in the design of preventive and corrective maintenance programs and spare parts inventories.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, invoices, cost and expenditure accounting and tracking data and other financial records for Project Engineering activities.

  • Ensures the accurate and timely management of change to scope, schedule and cost for assigned projects.

    Continuous Improvement (30%):

  • Ensure all LATICRETE processes, equipment, buildings and facilities support systems are in compliance with or exceed all applicable Federal, State and local environmental, safety & health and OSHA regulations and building/construction codes and reporting requirements.

  • Identify, develop and implement process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value-added activities.

  • Identify, develop and implement process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.

  • Handles the most complex issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff. Assists other team members on intermediate complex issues.

  • Considered a high-level specialist who regularly interacts and works with senior management.

    Leadership and Mentoring (10%):

  • Provides leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to other engineers and/or other Laticrete team members.

  • Performs other directly related appropriate duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • 15+ years’ experience working in a process manufacturing environment

  • 10+ years’ experience managing equipment installation and capital improvements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required – Mechanical, Mechatronic, Chemical or Civil preferred from an accredited university

Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • Expert skills in the design, specification, acquisition, installation and start-up of new and improved industrial processes, equipment, buildings and support systems.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized in project scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.

  • Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.

  • Team player - maintain positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and outside vendors, consultants, and contractors.

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships.

  • Leadership skills

  • Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook, AutoCAD; Microsoft Project.

Travel Requirement:

  • Must be able to travel up to 50%.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-employment physical.

  • Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 25 pounds and occasionally as much as 65 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 25 pounds.

  • Stand: Must be able to stand 75% of the day.

  • Sitting: Must be able to sit 75% of the day.

  • Twisting/Bending: Must be able to twist/bend 25% of the day.

  • Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling: Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 25% of the day. Must be able to climb stairs (including open mesh) with varying degrees of pitch to elevations up to 150 ft.
