Safran USA's Electronics & Defense Avionics division, is looking for an Import Compliance Specialist (Irvine, California or Grand Prairie, Texas).

Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with ACE portal desired relevant to both import and export activities
Knowledge in using US Census Foreign Trade Schedule B system, preferred
Knowledge in using US International Trade Commission HTS online reference tool, preferred
Excellent communication skills demonstrating strong critical thinking skills with the ability to clearly present complicated technical concepts to global users
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills required
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers, associates, departments, and other teams
Excellent computer skills: SAP, MS Office Suite and SharePoint
Accuracy and rigor, detail oriented
Results oriented
Autonomous
Good writing and articulation skills
Time management skills (have the ability to set priorities)
Physical Requirements:

Job Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all aspects of managing and communicating with SEDA import broker(s)
Work with customs brokers to address all import flow needs (PGA, TSCA, USMCA, COO) and similar import flow issues on-demand
Primary interface with customs brokers providing support for goods entry, and data resolution as the Importer of Record for SEDA's import shipments
Review and classify goods under the US Harmonized Tariff System (HTS US) using the General Rules of Interpretation, Section and Chapter Notes, Explanatory Notes and CROSS rulings
Responsible for US Customs Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) reports and data analysis
Work with various data sources, technical experts, engineers, product and sourcing managers located in three different locations (CA, TX, MX) and others to obtain and interpret technical data (including drawings, specification documents, schematics, and product manual descriptions) necessary for accurate classification(s)
Collaborate on responding to CBP requests and notices in a timely fashion (i e CBP28's, CBP29's)
Read, analyze and interpret complex procedures or regulations and write correspondence and procedural documents that will have internal and/or external audience
Maintain records in accordance with import and export regulatory recordkeeping requirements and Safran Policy
Keep management informed on risk mitigation action plan
Support and train logistics and operation(s) teams on import and export processes and updates (including annual awareness for teams in various geographic locations)
Support improvement of company ERP systems and processes (SAP, SharePoint, technical document libraries)
Support export shipments to ensure shipping documents are accurate, and export filings are correct and timely
Perform other duties as required/assigned by management
Required Competencies
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus three years of import/customs compliance experience desired or; 8 years of import/customs compliance experience
In-depth knowledge of the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule including GRI's, Section and Chapter notes and CROSS ruling application
US Licensed Customers Broker, preferred
Experience working with a maquiladora, preferred
Experience in the aerospace and defense industry in an import/customs compliance position, strongly preferred
Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
