CAS seeks a Business Improvement Program Manager that thrives in the complex cross functional environments and is highly skilled in the application of Business Process Management, Continuous Improvement, Lean and Project Management and tools to define and deliver projects that achieve our vision. The Business Improvement Program Manager is responsible to direct cross functional project teams engaged in the value creating optimization efforts supporting all business units and functions within CAS organization.

This position is part of the CAS Program Management Function and will be located in Grand Rapids, MI. The position will be on-site and require up to 25% travel to the multiple CAS business unit locations, both domestic and international.

The Business Improvement Program Manager will have the opportunity to engage in (but not be limited to):

  • Collaboratively develop cross functional value creating improvement strategies across all facets of the organization to optimize overall business performance. Partner with business unit and functional leaders to analyze current value stream performance, develop a pipeline of improvement initiatives, prioritize projects, create business cases for investment and translate strategic visions into actionable and measurable tactical plans.

  • Apply business process management, lean, kaizen, six sigma and continuous improvement principles to the creation or betterment of existing processes, dashboard measures and analytics in the order to cash generation value chain. Simplify, standardize, and optimize key processes spanning all functions in the business.

  • Manage a portfolio of Business Improvement projects to address value creation and productivity objectives for the business. Accountable for lifecycle project scope, schedule, cost, risk/opportunity, resource utilization and value creation objectives approved in business cases.

  • Create tactical implementation plans and measures utilizing sound project management disciplines for monitoring, measuring, controlling, delivering, and learning throughout the lifecycle of project initiatives.

  • Utilize data-driven approaches to assess project impact and effectiveness and driving process KPIs in alignment with CAS objectives.

  • Develop relationships and team with CAS business and functional leaders to identify and build highly engaged and inspired integrated project teams to deliver on identified objectives and corporate strategies

  • Applies sound change management practices across the business and functions during transitions of process, tools, and infrastructure to enable the vision and objectives behind all activities. Ensure teams are engaged and supporting key inputs into the organization.

  • Establish and/or improve the business improvement culture within CAS by partnering with functional leads to provide best practice / lessons learned sharing, and training.

  • Innovatively and systematically build a problem identification and problemsolving environment by demonstrating and modeling thought leadership, influence, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

  • Develop skills and abilities of assigned project management team members through mentoring, coaching, measuring, and modeling.

    Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • BS/BA level degree in industrial engineering, process engineering, , manufacturing engineering, or equivalent. Preference for MBA level candidates.

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma BB, Kaizen facilitation, Business Process Management and/or Design thinking

  • Preference for PMP certification or equivalent Program Management certification.

  • Preference for aerospace industry experience.

  • 8+ years of experience in progressive Business Improvement or Continuous Improvement Project and Program Management roles. Exposure to managing high complexity improvement projects.

  • 6+ years of program management practitioner experience. Demonstrated ability to create management operating systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise-wide lean transformation projects from inception to completion. Ability to develop strategy, plans, training, and measures to roadmap the transformation of processes, capabilities, and culture.

  • Demonstrated depth and breadth in business acumen across the major functional disciplines including IT, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Subcontracts, and Aftermarket Support.

  • Strong financial acumen. Demonstrated ability to link strategy and tactics to P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow effects.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability and the ability to affect organizational change in challenging environments. Must be adept at achieving results through multiple organizations and functions, sometimes with competing priorities. Skilled in interpersonal influence, persuasion, and negotiation.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organization. Skilled in building customer and subcontractor relationships while balancing strategic objectives. Adept listener and public speaker.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools and Power BI.

  • Ability to travel (domestic or international) up to 25%.
