Job Summary:

We are looking for an Engineering Co-Op Student to join our Controls Contracting team in Grand Rapids, MI. This person will assist our engineering and project management teams on various projects in commercial and industrial facilities across West Michigan. We specialize in design and installation of digital programmable controls. Our controls are used to monitor, operate, optimize, and maintain a wide variety of infrastructure systems, including hydronic piping and pumping, air-distribution, refrigeration, and electrical systems. We work on various types of projects, including new construction, remodeling, equipment replacement, and sustainability and energy conservation. The co-op student will utilize skills gained in their coursework to engineer, design, and assist us in a number of areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis support involving airside, waterside, and refrigerant systems.

  • Application of diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices. • Read and review drawings and blueprints

  • Assist in creation of engineered control drawings

  • Creation and review of control system user interface graphics

  • Work closely with other team members, including project managers, project engineers, technicians, and others

  • Communication with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff.

  • Ensure that quality standards are maintained for assigned projects.

  • Serve customers by answering inquires and responding to special requests.

  • Support sales and operations as required.

  • Occasional travel to job sites (local)

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Must have excellent communication / customer skills

  • CAD experience is strongly preferred

  • Previous experience in construction or facilities maintenance, HVAC and/or related controls systems is preferred but not required
