Trinity Health Geriatrics Medical Assistant Team Lead in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Description:

Assists the Practice Leader or Manager with oversight of day-to-day clinic operations. Organizes and oversees activities within the work unit, as well as assigning and monitoring work of others. Follows established procedures. Effective communicator; able to assess situations, exercise discretion and judgment, and act in the best interest of patients and customers. May spend a substantial portion of time performing the same duties as other staff in the department.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Currently registered or certified with RMA (AMT) or CMA (AAMA) certification.

Preferred: Associate’s Degree in healthcare or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience as required for the specified level of the position.

Credentials/Licensure

Required: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Certification, CPR or BLS certified

Preferred: TB administration/testing certified, immunization champion, safety champion, trained as a medical

assistant preceptor or combination of all listed

Related Experience

Required: Two years of experience working in a medical office or similar setting, with demonstrated

leadership experience.

Preferred: Five years of Medical Assistant experience.

• Coordinates daily operations of assigned unit.

• May routinely perform day-to-day staff level duties.

• Oversees clinical office functions including daily quality control functions.

• Assists with PCMH capabilities and tracking in the office setting.

• Communicates and collaborates with staff and customers to facilitate excellent patient care and service delivery. Serves as a resource for patients, staff, and providers in the Manager/Practice Leader’s absence.

• Assures compliance with appropriate federal and state regulations as required.

• Provides input into the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental and division goals.

• Provides input for interviewing, hiring and training of new staff.

• Provides input for evaluation process and the development of specific individual performance evaluations as appropriate and may assist with implementing action plans when necessary.

• Complies with departmental activities such as monitoring supplies, documents charges/services, etc.

• Oversees the scheduling and assigns work to staff within established departmental guidelines. Is accountable for his/her own time management and the time management of all departmental staff.

• Assists in developing and implementing education programs for staff and/or arranging opportunities for professional growth and development. Monitors round tables/task group attendance and ensures those new processes are implemented within the office.

• Provides clinical oversight or acts as office expert on clinical duties like immunization champion, TB administration and testing, safety champion, precepting role, and any other leadership or lead roles for a Medical Assistant in an office setting.

• Oversees the acquisition and repair of office operational equipment, makes recommendations for improvements, and ensures that proper maintenance is conducted.

• Assists with payroll input and corrections as needed.

• Responsible for continual learning and individual role development.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
