The Commercial Aviation Systems (CAS) Program Management (PM) vision is to relentlessly reimagine and reshape the value chains by which we deliver results to our customers, suppliers, and internal/external stakeholder communities in pursuit of creating safer skies. The CAS PM organization seeks an IT Program Manager that thrives in complex technical environments and is highly skilled in IT transformations, including but not limited to security, infrastructure, business applications and desktop management. The CAS IT Program Manager is responsible to direct cross functional project teams in the planning, monitoring, controlling and delivery phases of IT projects aimed at value creating optimization efforts supporting all business units and functions within CAS. In this role the IT PM will collaborate closely with the CAS IT function to establish strategy, implement the vision and objectives set forth by the Digital Transformation Committee and create value for the organization.

This position is part of the CAS PM Function and will be located in Grand Rapids, MI or St. Petersburg, FL. The position will be on-site in either of these locations and require up to 25% travel to the multiple CAS business unit locations, both domestic and international.

The CAS IT Program Manager will have the opportunity to engage in (but not be limited to):

  • Collaboratively develop cross functional value creation strategies across all facets of the IT function to optimize overall business performance. Partner with business unit and functional leaders to translate strategic visions into actionable and measurable tactical plans.

  • Create tactical plans and measures utilizing sound project management disciplines to enable the development of winning businesses cases for investment and project plans for monitoring, measuring, controlling, delivering, and learning.

  • Manage a portfolio of IT optimization projects to address transitions in security, infrastructure, business applications and desktop management. Accountable for lifecycle project scope, schedule, cost, risk/opportunity, and value creation objectives approved in business cases.

  • Partners with subcontracted project teams to execute upon approved business cases and project plans through effective statements of work, contracts and a “two in the box” program management approach. Teams with CAS business and functional leaders to identify and build highly engaged and inspired integrated project teams to deliver on identified objectives.

  • Applies sound change management practices across the business and functions during transitions of process, tools, and infrastructure to enable the vision and objectives behind all activities. Ensure teams are engaged and supporting key inputs into the organization.

  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to the IT environment in the development, training and application of rigorous standard operating procedures and process measurements which will be instrumental in the attainment of desired certifications for ISO9001, ISO27001 and CMMC. Establish a process improvement culture within the IT team by partnering with functional leads to provide updates and best practice sharing on processes, tools, training, and lessons learned.

  • Innovatively and systematically build a problem-solving environment by demonstrating and modeling thought leadership, influence, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

  • Develop skills and abilities of assigned project management team members through mentoring, coaching, measuring, and modeling.

    Qualifications:

  • BS/BA level degree in IT or engineering. Preference for MBA level candidates.

  • Preference for PMP certification or equivalent Program Management certification.

  • 6+ years of experience in progressive IT Project and Program Management roles. Exposure to managing high complexity IT projects which includes major IT applications, infrastructure, security and integrations with ERP such as new software implementation to ERP, ERP upgrade projects, etc. Program management practitioner experienced in leading through planning, baseline control, metrics, and analytics. Demonstrated ability to create management operating systems.

  • Consideration given to aerospace industry IT experience.

  • A demonstrated depth and breadth in business acumen across the major functional disciplines including IT, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Subcontracts, and Aftermarket Support.

  • Strong financial acumen. Demonstrated ability to link strategy and tactics to P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow effects.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability and the ability to affect organizational change in challenging environments. Must be adept at achieving results through multiple organizations and functions, sometimes with competing priorities. Skilled in interpersonal influence, persuasion, and negotiation.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organization. Skilled in building customer and subcontractor relationships while balancing strategic objectives. Adept listener and public speaker.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

  • Ability to travel (domestic or international) up to 25%.
