Trinity Health Linen Handler in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Description:

Receives stores, collects, tracks and transport linen (sterile, clean and/or soiled) throughout SJMHS including off-site clinic and satellite locations. Works well with teams, independently, efficiently and in a safe manner. Routinely utilizes computer, tracking software, handheld units, and associated Supply Chain equipment.

• Prioritize assigned tasks and organize work.

• Ability to use and read a platform scale and perform basic mathematical calculations.

Computer Competency

• Basic computer skills.

Physical/Mental

• Standing, walking (75-100% of time); lifting, pulling, push up to 35lbs (50-75% of the time. Bending, twisting, squatting (25-50% of the time); sitting, climbing, kneel, fine motor use (0-25% of the time); Perform detail housekeeping tasks and work with changing priorities (100%).

Works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions. Exposure to fumes and airborne particles.

What the Linen Handler will do:

Delivers equipment, linen, scrubs, and supplies to all user departments from supply holding area.

• Responsible for unit inventories and coordination of linens to assure adequate daily par levels and supply needs.

• Works closely with Receiving Dock Handlers to coordinate flow of supplies, linen, and equipment to all user departments.

• Assist unloading Co-op laundry trucks and transports clean linen to the clean linen holding area.

• Prepares unit specific clean linen exchange carts following prescribed schedule and par level.

• Delivers clean linen exchange carts to specific department locations.

• Collects soiled linen daily from hospital units and transports to dock.

• Transfers soiled linen from collection carts to Co-op laundry carts in preparation for transport to Co-op Laundry.

• Places linen replenishment orders with Co-op Laundry.

• Operates freight elevator to transport supplies to and from the designated areas.

• Maintains required distribution records.

• Answer telephone and respond to routine inquires and maintains good Customer Service.

• Operates power industrial type pallet jack to transport heavy supplies throughout hospital.

• Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

• Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors.

• Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

• Performs other job duties as requested.
