We need individuals who are passionate about making a difference by helping others. 

 

We are seeking a Medical Assistant* *responsible for direct service to clients in our Outpatient Psychiatric Services Clinic, that serves both adults and children with mental illness/behavioral health and substance use disorder needs. This multidisciplinary team-based model includes: a psychiatrist, registered nurse, medical assistant, case managers, outpatient therapists and peer support.  The team serves consumers with mental illness and substance use disorder needs with an emphasis on evidence-based therapeutic treatments. 

 

 This position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is no weekend, on call, or holiday requirements for this position. This assignment is in person at 790 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

 *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an accredited Medical Assistant program 
  • Current valid CPR certification, or obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Education or training in the basics of medical terminology
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities

* PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: *

  • CMA certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the RMA certification through American Medical Technologists preferred
  • Strong understanding of services for psychiatric and substance disordered consumers, and a strong recovery philosophy, preferred
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, preferred
  • Experience working with an Electronic Health Record, preferred
