Actalent Manufacturing Engineer in Grandview, Missouri

Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

Design, plan, specify, procure, certify, and implement into production safe, high-quality, cost-effective equipment and processes. Partner with Lean/CI team to develop manufacturing processes and standard work that improve output, reduce defects, and enhance product quality and reliability. Benchmark best manufacturing practices and assembly techniques, introducing and implementing new and enhanced processes to improve quality, reduce cycle time, and lower costs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the CNC programming/supervision team to support improved OEE and schedule attainment performance.

  • Take functional ownership of item routings, work instructions, and process flow documentation.

  • Support new product development by driving Design for Manufacturing/Assembly objectives.

  • Maintain and support production equipment and processes to ensure optimal performance.

  • Act as operations lead on New Production Introductions and Design Changes (ECN/ECR).

  • Create efficient production processes to build and ship custom configured products within market lead-time.

  • Review drawings, blueprints, sketches, manuals, or sample parts to determine appropriate manufacturing processes and create drawings in SolidWorks or similar software.

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing practices.

  • Create and update information for the creation of BOMs/Routings in ERP.

  • Support the Quality team in investigating and executing corrective actions for product quality issues.

  • Work in a cross-functional team environment and drive results.

  • Support other job functions (logistics, warehouse, technical sales, instrumentation) within a small team structure.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with machining processes

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar design software

  • Experience with process improvement and Lean manufacturing

  • Tooling design and revision skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and machining process improvement

  • Lean Six Sigma expertise

  • Ability to use quality measuring devices

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably machining

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or Manufacturing Engineering with appropriate skills)

  • Experience with assembly and machining processes

Work Environment

This role involves a mix of on-the-floor and office work, with a 70/30 split. You will work closely with the quality and manufacturing teams. This is an opportunity to wear multiple hats as the only manufacturing engineer, contributing to a steadily growing company due to an acquisition that has allowed for more specialized local manufacturing. Significant investments are being made into current machines and processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00
