Position Overview

Welcome to the role of Engineering Intern (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural). In this position, you will assist with the efficient and innovative design of custom manufacturing machines, automated vision systems, and other industrial equipment. This will include contributing to current projects from concept to installation.The assigned work will be based on an area of study, i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural.

The Engineering Intern should expect to acquire hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and an understanding of how technology is integrated into industry. The Engineering Intern will work primarily out of the Grantsville, MD location, the shop, and/or customer site.

What You'll Do
  • Assisting with evaluating and developing principles of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and structural/ civil systems.
  • Assists with project design, procurement, build, testing, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Assist with assembly, troubleshooting, prototyping, and light fabrication in shop and field settings
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Decision-making based on industry best practices, standards, and applicable codes.
  • Work in a collaborative team environment.

Working Conditions

  • Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / Crawl/kneel
  • Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type
  • Perform work on-site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations
What You'll Bring
  • Enrolled in a bachelors degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Controls Engineering
  • Prior experience in Machine Design or Industrial Automation preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and standard software such as Word and Excel
  • Self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a team or individual environment.
