What you will do

As a Senior Engineer you will be manage multiple aspects of vehicle safety and regulatory compliance for domestic and international markets as it relates to Volvo and Mack products. You will serve as a technical authority regarding product safety compliance requirements and provide guidance and direction when needed to ensure that compliance is maintained. Additionally, you will work with other Product Safety investigators and engineers to investigate and evaluate reported concerns for product offerings associated with safety-related components, systems, software, and calibrations.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that obligations required to maintain safety compliance are provided accurately and on time (recall, product safety defect determination)

  • Supporting the Safety Data Analytics Infrastructure program to monitor and ensure safety compliance and communicate results and corrective actions

  • Managing the flow to make certain that data is processed and accurate for submission to relevant authorities

  • Assisting in facilitating the Product Safety Evaluation Committee to ensure that any items, which need to be addressed are clearly presented and decisions are made in a timely manner

  • Guaranteeing that all processes necessary for maintaining legal safety compliance are properly documented and maintained

  • Representing Volvo to NHTSA, Transport Canada, and DOT/other as necessary and when appropriate.

  • Collaborating with Legal when necessary for accident inspection.

  • Overseeing Defect/Recall items and coordinate necessary corrective action.

  • Traveling both domestically and internationally is a possibility.

Our team, Product Safety, is a part of the Complete Vehicle function for Volvo group Trucks Technology North America. We contribute to deliver the right Products & Services to all Volvo Group brand customers according to product segmentation and brand positioning. In Complete Vehicle we are a team of specialized functions with various responsibilities: Aftermarket technology developing aftermarket solutions for the brands; Features/Verification/Validation breaking down features to technical requirements, as well as verifying and validating products and services; Product Design translating the soul of the brand to a product message; Product Builds delivering all truck and component builds; Special Vehicle Development developing niche products, and Product Safety Certification & Compliance managing all aspects of regulatory product safety and compliance for domestic products, while also cross-collaborating for international markets. In Complete Vehicle we are close to end customers, understanding their needs and behaviors. Our engaged teams have a holistic view of the entire truck and bring hands-on truck experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field

  • 5-8+years of experience in HD-Vehicle technology

  • Experience working with Heavy Duty Vehicles and Government Regulatory Agencies
