North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Teaching Assistant Professor in Greensboro, North Carolina

This is a non-tenure track full-time one-year appointment for a Teaching Assistant Professor focused on online teaching and the design of online courses, multimedia lessons, and digital resources within the College of Business and Economics. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to develop and deliver high-quality online course content and student engagement activities in economics at the undergraduate and MBA levels. The faculty member should be familiar with and implement evidence-based practices in both the design and teaching of online courses. The faculty member will also play a key role in the Extended Campus online quality assurance processes. In addition to teaching online courses in the Department of Economics, this non-tenure-track or assistant professor new hire will also carry out departmental and college-related service tasks related to online course design, instruction, and assessment of student learning as directed by their College Dean, the Program Chair, or the Associate Dean. The online teaching tasks will include items such as student attendance verification, regular substantive online interactions, frequent formative and summative assessment activities with feedback, requested student success reporting, and timely submission of final grades.

This is a 9-month position.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Department of Economics is one of five academic departments in the College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University, located in Greensboro, NC. North Carolina A&T State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research institution committed to exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.

The Department of Economics currently enrolls approximately 120 majors and offers three undergraduate B.S. degrees: an economics degree with an open (general) concentration, one with a concentration in business, and one with a concentration in law. The economics (general) degree is offered as both an on-campus and online program. The general economics degree includes nine electives, making it attractive to students who want to combine economics with specializations in other fields. The Economics-Business concentration is an AACSB -accredited program; the College has been accredited by AACSBInternational since 1979. The Department currently has 12 faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees.

Requirements:

The position requires an earned doctorate in Economics or Applied Economics by the anticipated date of appointment and demonstrated commitment to excellence in online teaching appropriate to the level of appointment.

Preferred:

Highly desirable candidates will have demonstrated experience in and evidence of effective undergraduate teaching in the online environment and interest/experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning. For this position, we also particularly value candidates with experience in the following areas: Blackboard LMS , digital media development, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Quality Matters™ rubric.

    This position may be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. N.C. A&T employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
