WESTMORELAND COMMUNITY ACTION Family Advocate Supervisor in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Our Early Head Start (EHS) department is seeking their next Family Advocate Supervisor. As Family Advocate Supervisor, you will ensure that program participants receive intensive comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families, and to pregnant women and their families. Services include parenting education and support, child development assessments, socialization experiences, and referrals to community services. Using your early childhood education and field experience, you will accomplish this by:

  • Supervising, mentoring, and training program staff to ensure they deliver quality service,
  • Appraising EHS director with program documentation, performance measurement, and other program data,
  • Assisting with planning and facilitating parent and child socialization for families,
  • Providing child development education at EHS events,
  • Assisting in the development of individual family goals and strategy steps for reaching their goals in the absence of a regular family advocate, and
  • Conducting at least one home visit per week to approximately ten to twelve families in the absence of a regular family advocate.

We (Westmoreland Community Action) are a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with major course work in early childhood education, social welfare, or other related fields and three years of experience working with families and children required.
  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in early childhood education, social welfare, or other related fields and three years of experience working with families and children preferred.
  • Interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills obtained through experience or training.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to obtain child abuse, state police, fingerprint-based criminal background check, and sex offender registry clearances.
  • Valid driver's license required and must carry $15,000/$30,000 bodily liability car insurance.
  • Must undergo a health assessment and TB test as part of pre-hiring.
