Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities Specific duties include but are not limited to: Represent the COS office in coordinating actives within the Greenville practice among different COS-led services. Liaise between the Greenville practice and service chiefs located outside of Greenville (to include the Durham VA Medical Center and the rest of the Health Care System). Represent the COS office in Health Care System-wide management functions. This includes participation on system-wide quality efforts, privileging boards, governance committees, and resource management bodies. Assist in clarifying equipment requests, selection of new medical staff members, and defining clinical processes and flow within the Greenville practice. Implement system-wide policies at the Greenville practice (such as but not limited to; OOORAM, CPR, Safety Training, monitoring of specific TMS training). Supervise employee's performing work at various levels and provide administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit/services including monitoring outreach efforts and for the management, coordination, planning, and development of key administrative activities for the clinic. Perform the administrative and personnel management functions relative to supervised staff. The incumbent establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes worker's performance, demonstrates, and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback, and periodically evaluates employee performance. Resolve informal complaints and grievances. Develop work performance improvement plans and recommend personnel actions as necessary. NOTE: This position is 0.5 clinical and 0.5 leadership. Education: A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner approved by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant (Transcripts Required): The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)- formerly known as the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) -OR- The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). -OR- In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing validated through an Agency recognized degree equivalency evaluation agency, such as the International Consultants of Delaware (ICD), possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as an APN to practice as a NP in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grandfathering Provision: All persons employed in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) as a permanent Nurse Practitioner (NP) staff employee on January 29, 2024 or earlier (and are currently employed in this series) that are also performing the duties are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the grade held including positive education and licensure/certification. Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certification: Must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a NP in a State and maintain full and current certification as a NP from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in specialty for this position. Grade Determinations for APN (Nurse Practitioner) III: Education and Experience Requirement: Meets basic education requirement for an APN (NP) AND one year of specialized APN (NP) experience. Scope: Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Dimension Requirement: APN (Nurse Practitioners) at grade III are expected to meet the following dimension requirements: Clinical Practice. Influences and models the delivery of evidence- based health care, demonstrating expertise in the ability to manage a patient panel, population, or program. Outcome Focus. Leads and implements changes that enhance the quality and timeliness of Veteran/patient care applying research and evidence in the delivery of healthcare for patient populations. Leadership. Initiates and leads interdisciplinary teams informed by structured approaches and processes to improve outcomes that positively impact care for a patient panel, population, or program. Professional Development. Acquires knowledge and skills, then disseminates acquired information within and/or outside the medical facility. Professionalism/Collegiality. Initiates and leads interdisciplinary teams developing systems that positively impact outcomes at the panel, population, or program level. Demonstrates effective communication skills and professional behavior, promoting cooperation and teamwork.
