The team you will be a part of:

The Material Management team is responsible for inventory audits and maintaining inventory at optimum levels. Develops procedures to enhance the effectiveness of inventory control programs. Coordinates with relevant departments to schedule, audit, and reconcile periodic physical inventories. Oversees incoming shipments of merchandise to ensure that inventory is accurate, updated and provided according to schedules.

This role in summary:

The Senior Materials Manager is responsible for oversight of all material flow, planning and execution for the operations in both internal and external operations and FDC (Factory Distribution Center). The leader in this role acts as the liaison between Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Technology and S&OP teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Adhere to policies and procedures of Inventory Management (internal and external controls).

  • Lead the manufacturing production schedule with corporate planning and develop optimal operational plans that incorporate manufacturing constraints.

  • Lead weekly meetings with the product fulfillment team to review forecast data.

  • Enforce and manage commercial relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient flow of parts into the operation.

  • Work with manufacturing leadership and cross functional teams to optimize total cost and to maintain inventory targets that support our ability to deliver the promise to our customers.

  • Lead and work with the FDC team in order to manage the orders for shipments attaining Safety, Quality, People Motivation and proper cost of operations.

  • Mentor, lead, and develop the plant’s materials organization.

  • Report to material and manufacturing leadership on production status and identify countermeasures.

  • Support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Methodology and Application.

  • Serve as a point of contact for cross-functional partners - both internal to Whirlpool and external.

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement efforts through involvement in the strategic materials management planning process and the execution of activities defined in that process.

  • Prioritize and organize short term and long term goals and activities in accordance with business objectives.

  • Ensure strict adherence to all Whirlpool manufacturing standards/methods.

  • Live the Whirlpool Leadership Model and drive it within your team.

  • Address opportunities for improvement relative to Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery metrics and talent development.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in manufacturing and supply chain concepts and parts flow.

  • 5+ years of materials experience.

  • Strong understanding of Lean methodology and application, with a proven track record in driving continuous improvement via lean tools.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

  • Prior experience managing supplier and/or various cross functional relationships.

  • Proven Technical/Product Knowledge in Supply Chain Management, and knowledge on Industry Standards.

  • Demonstrated passion for leading people and achieving results.

Preferred skills and experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering.

  • 5+ years leadership experience in a supply chain focused or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology and principles. Full understanding of Lean concepts.

  • Experience with SAP systems.

  • Use of Google Tools (Google:Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms & Drawings).

  • Experience employing basic change management methodology.

  • Proven use of logic and problem solving tools to develop plans to meet targets and look forward proactively and to prioritize.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead conversations with suppliers in a proactive, productive manner.
