GE Vernova Engineer - Product Definition in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Description Summary

Join our world class Configuration Management & Product Definition team to develop new technical solutions, processes and automation software for the Digital Thread. Work closely with design engineering and manufacturing to solve challenging enterprise problems and effectively communicate business goals and accomplishments across all levels of the organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD models and drawings using company sponsored CAD systems (NX, E3D).

  • Utilize applicable checking and productivity tools. Provide feedback for improvements.

  • Utilize applicable PLM system (Enovia) to manage and issue product definition data.

  • Define geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities.

  • Drive improvements and approvals for gold standard CAD models, drawings, with GD&T and manufacturing best practices.

  • Work closely with our experienced team in model based product definition process changes and advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Ensure design integrity and no high-risk escaping defects and drive improvements in FTY (error reduction).

  • Ensure that interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by owners of mating parts.

  • Check, validate, and issue models and drawings.

  • Effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.

  • Manage concurrent Engineering processes, understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are met.

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical PDE data.

  • Provide design support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.

  • Assure that proper documentation of technical data, generated to substantiate the assigned components, assembly processes, and/or systems is consistent with design policies and procedures.

  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.

  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve current business products and processes. Document the success of Lean or Six Sigma projects.

  • Continually learn and apply the latest techniques relative to CAD software, Data Management Systems (DMS) and MBE (Model Based Enterprise).

  • Contribution to Engineering initiatives to improve productivity and quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics OR a High School diploma/ GED with 6 years of product definition experience.

  • 0-2 years of experience in engineering.

Desired Characteristics

  • Proficiency with NX or other advanced CAD platform with application of PMI to 3D model features.

  • Experience with Dassault's ENOVIA or other PLM system.

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5, ISO 1101 or applicable).

  • Knowledge/Experience of CAD routing modules that consist of Piping, Electrical or Structural design.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities and assembly procedures.

  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine Design Practices and Design Standards.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong team player with a focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing several projects across functions (New Product Introduction, New Units, Services, Cost Out, etc.), ensuring On-time Delivery, with high quality and on-budget.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $69,600.00 - 104,400.00 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
