Job Summary:

Position Summary:

EHS Technicians perform technical duties related to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS). The EHS Tech will assist the EHS Leader in implementing loss control and accident prevention activities to help ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures. This position will establish and promote maintenance of a safe, accident-free, and healthy workplace environment at the office level and production level by performing the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Perform initial management of change (MOC) evaluations and work with project managers to ensure tasks are prioritized and completed on time.

• Assist in development of Job Safety Analysis’ (JSAs).

• Institute team-based care initiatives through engagement of front-line leadership and department employees.

• Develop critical inventories of RRI, lifting procedures, and department risk assessments.

• Facilitate cross functional ergonomic assessments and identification of workstation improvements.

• Assist team with driving EHS excellence as a core value and promotes an enthusiastic safety culture at all levels.

• Coordinates EHS improvement projects to ensure business continuity.

• Perform EHS preventative maintenance and inspection audits in accordance with the business and regulatory requirements.

• Provide EHS recommendations to drive metric improvements and reduce hazards and risk for facility-wide initiatives.

• Execute daily plant walks using existing and new skills, knowledge, and abilities to provide basic EHS compliance guidance, hazard recognition, and identify opportunities for improvement to site employees.

• Design and implement workplace processes and procedures using EHS standard work from our Business Operating System (BOS) and other appropriate resources.

• Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections and maintain oversight of hazardous and special waste staging areas and take corrective actions when necessary to maintain regulatory compliance and best practices.

• Develop and deliver effective EHS related training to small groups for compliance, employee development and awareness.

• Assists with project management and oversees contractors/staffing for site projects.

• Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements

• Support and collaborate with all other support departments as assigned.

• Lead and participate in on-site safety teams and/or committees.

• Assist with development and training of the EHS Management System (Gensuite), and Ergonomics and Behavior Based Safety (BBS) programs. Collect, input, and analyze EHS data to determine actions that help ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

• Lead and maintain Management for Daily Improvement (MDI) meetings and board requirements.

• Assist supervisors with conducting cross functional incident and near miss investigations to establish a root cause and determine temporary and permanent containment solutions using the Hierarchy of Controls. Follow up on those corrective and preventative actions to drive on time closure of incident investigations, concerns, and findings.

• Monitor compliance and assist EHS Leader with Emergency Action Planning including evacuation, shelter, and active shooter drills.

Degree/Certification/License:

• High School Diploma/GED Required

• Associates Degree in a Science or Technical field of study or specialized EHS Certificates preferred

• Wastewater operator license preferred

Qualification Requirements:

• Must be willing to pursue technician level certification (s) in related field and willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities as part of job and personal development.

• Must complete specialized training in a variety of environmental health and safety topics within the first 6 months of hire.

• A successful candidate will be a hands-on; “on the plant floor” person who can lead by example to help drive behavioral change in the environmental, health and safety arena

• Administer first aid and emergency care when needed and must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to escort associates to appointments as needed.

• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build healthy relationships with employees at all levels.

• Must be self-directed and able to adjust priorities accordingly, without being prompted, based on risk and business needs.

• Must be able to define problem areas, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

• High energy self-starter who leads positively and optimistically and provides servant leadership to all levels of the organization.

• Ability to work with excel, word, power point, outlook, and internet explorer.

• A high level of integrity is critical as well as strong complex problem-solving and excellent listening skills.
