Job Description Summary

Maintain, diagnose and repair manufacturing production equipment to planned production and quality specifications. Responsibility includes electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems for equipment such as CNC machine tools, Creep feed grinders, Laser ablation and various manufacturing processes. Ability to perform analytical and functionality troubleshooting when problems arise and maintain normal operating systems through PM’s and improvements.

Job Description

Responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying and/or rebuilding a wide variety of complex manufacturing equipment, machine tools and associated equipment while providing accurate documentation of work efforts in both electronic and paper media.

• Required to operate or work with qualified operators or support teams to validate corrective actions and demonstrate satisfactory operating condition.

• Must be able to read, interpret and follow intricate and complex blueprints, schematics and instruction manuals as they apply to the hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC and electro-mechanical apparatus of the manufacturing equipment.

• Responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all machines, process equipment and incorporate modifications and revisions when required and update documentation

• Perform duties and tasks conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, such as LOTO, confined space, Fall Protection/Arrest, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e. Keep facilities, materials and work areas clean and orderly, exercise good housekeeping practices.

• Plan, install, maintain, rebuild, and repair a wide variety of machinery requiring the use of ordinary and specialized tools and devices including ladders, hand and power tools.

• Assume an active role in the output and quality of equipment and demonstrate ability to cross-train with other technicians, production, and support personnel as required.

• Complete work orders and maintain equipment function by conducting proper PM’s and logging work into Maximo program.

• Actively participate in continuous improvement, lean projects and team activities

• Perform other associated maintenance duties as required and maintain proactive stance rather than reactive in dealing with equipment and process repairs or improvements.

• Must be able to utilize complex electronic, hydraulic and mechanical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, recorders, VOMs, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, ball bars, laser alignment tools, electronic levels and other test equipment as required.

• Must actively participate in a self-directed team based environment which includes, but not limited to the following: active participation in daily team meetings and activities, cooperates and relates well with others, practices direct professional communication with team members, and is open to new ideas from team members and considers opinions different from their own.

• In the team environment, collaboration between the Maintenance Leader, Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Team and the Operations Team is required to ensure group viability, shift accountability, and to provide effective customer support.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Three years’ experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electronic, electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment or equivalent past or current education with degree and/or certifications.

• Minimum three years of practical experience in troubleshooting the repair of CNC machines.

Desired Characteristics:

• Associates and/or Bachelors Degree in a technical field or trade school certificate desired (Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Industrial Maintenance Technology, etc…)

• MS Office knowledge.

• Experience participating in a high-performance team-based environment and coordinating other resources to facilitate tasks or project closure.

• Ability to lead and direct small teams within maintenance organization (preventive, predictive, and reliability-focused) plan and organize work projects and resources

• Knowledge and understanding of logic and complex systems (PLC’s, vision systems, robotics, etc.)

• Ability to manage time and multiple projects in addition to normal duties while repairing equipment in a safe, timely, and professional manner

• Install procedures and solutions to prevent repeat occurrences in equipment malfunctions and ensure such are communicated and personnel trained

• Good interpersonal skills and ability to train other technicians, engineers, operators, or support personnel

• Advanced understanding of CNC machining centers and associated tooling and fixtures

• Advanced understanding of automation concepts

• Advanced understanding of assembly line production systems using linear motion, robotics, and vision systems

• Knowledge of AC / DC servo loop systems and variable frequency drives

• Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

• Strong knowledge of mechanics and the mechanical fit of components, assemblies and subassemblies as applied to the precision tolerances required for maintaining and/or restoring machines to O.E.M. specifications.

• Experience reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematics, instruction manuals, diagrams and N/C and PLC (ladder) programs.

• Working knowledge of typical testing equipment devices such as oscilloscopes, meggar, multimeter, ball bar, or laser alignment.

• Experience performing duties and tasks conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, such as Fire evacuation, accident reporting, LOTO, confined space, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e.

• Considerable physical effort will be applied in machine and equipment repair. Intermittent lifting of up to 50 pounds and manipulating bulky subassemblies and parts/ tooling. Exposure to awkward positions (bending, stooping, climbing) during maintenance tasks and ability to climb a ladder as necessary.

• Must have good manual dexterity, and ability to use various hand tools and gages.

• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.

• Strong Work Ethic and integrity in tasks and documentation and Maintain a positive attitude that drives team collaboration

• Ability to manage time and multiple projects in addition to normal duties while repairing equipment in a safe, timely, and professional manner
