OVERVIEW

Merrick is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing Business Unit. This full time, direct hire position, will be responsible for engineering, design, coordination, client communications and associated construction administration. Typical annual pay range for this position is $121,700.00 - $160,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position will be located in our Richmond, VA; Newport News, VA; Greenwood Village, CO; Tulsa, OK; Chattanooga, TN; or Ellicott City, MD offices. A hybrid work schedule will be supported. WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer with our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing team, you will work in a dynamic multi-discipline environment, accountable for the oversight of engineering deliverables, calculations, systems and equipment selection, mechanical design, mechanical engineering budget and schedule management, maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers, and other Merrick personnel as required by projects. The Engineer will work with other engineering and technical personnel to ensure overall project goals are met. You will have responsibilities in the following areas: Application of knowledge in Food & Personal Care, Bioprocessing, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing and Industrial facilities/systems (Conceptual Design): Ensure understanding and compliance with owner's requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design. Confirm and review applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, the IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA. Given the scope of design services, the owner's facility standards, and relevant industry standards, establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues. Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients. Work with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary. Design: Interpret scopes-of-work and translate them into executable project plans. Manage project mechanical engineering and design team and oversee all aspects of the mechanical scope related primarily to equipment and piping. Perform and document engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment. Perform sizing and selection of equipment and systems. Oversee piping group activities related to mechanical equipment, piping and 3D modeling to support mechanical deliverables. Ensure mechanical activities follow QA procedures. Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc. Work with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system. Perform detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents. Mentor other mechanical engineers and designers. Construction Support: Contribute to the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets. Oversee problem solving efforts for field oversights and addressing RFI's. Perform field inspections and review of reports. Profitability: Complete project within provided budget and prepares Change Orders when scope is expanded. Planning/Scheduling: Provide direction for what is to be included in bid package issue. Work with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents provided for each deliverable. Professional Development: Maintain required licensing CEU. Actively seek in-house and external training to maintain and update skills. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from ABET accredited program required. Twelve (12)+ years industry experience. Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment. Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects. Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Pipe stress analysis experience utilizing software such as CAESAR II. Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing and industrial facilities. HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities. Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
