What You Will Do...

  • Lead safety improvement activities related to the coatings processes, coating equipment, and coatings facilities throughout the plant. This includes activities such as: 1) implementing general safety improvements related to coatings throughout the plant when recognized by others or self; 2) supporting safety improvements of operator daily activities; 3) participating in Environmental, Health, & Safety audits and other various audits to ensure safe handling and storing coating raw materials, safety of coating systems, and compliance with quality assurance protocols;

  • Provide technical and daily operational support to the Coatings areas, Films Manufacturing areas, and R&D areas for coatings process and coatings development topics.

  • Leads development and implementation of new coating equipment designs, coating equipment modification, coating solution trials, and coating-related safety improvements.

  • Remains current with knowledge of state-of-the-art liquid film coating technology involving a broad spectrum of the many types of systems used within the industry. Seeks to apply the knowledge to Mitsubishi’s processes for improvements in Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

  • Remains current with liquid film coating chemistry knowledge to assist with troubleshooting in Films Manufacturing and to support R&D staff in their development of new coatings and products.

  • Supports administrative aspects of the coatings department involving modifying and implementing new recipes, raw material investigations, inventory tracking, coordinating with vendors for mixing raw materials, coordinating with vendors for providing coatings in safety-compliant packaging, coordinating with vendors for cost-reduction activities and quality-guarantee activities, etc.

  • Trend analysis of key performance metrics to identify medium and long-term improvement opportunities with focus on coating system performance and quality of the coating itself.

  • Provide daily technical troubleshooting support and continual, strategic improvement projects.

  • On-call availability to support production needs in a 24/7 operation.

  • Coating process SOC development and optimization for new and existing products.

  • Work across all Films Manufacturing and R&D assets to support coating topics. Support coating informational needs to global manufacturing locations upon request. Support new process and product development trials.

  • Work with Quality Engineers and customers to support product quality troubleshooting and quality improvement opportunities.

What You Will Have...

  • Educational experience: B.S. degree, in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience, required

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Willingness to provide off-hour support as needed

  • Good troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with fluid flow, liquid film coating methods, polymer film web-based manufacturing and related processing equipment is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with technical personnel and machine operators

  • Efficient at data analysis; Statistical approach to problem solving

  • Lean/Six-Sigma experience is a plus

  • Winding/Slitting/Converting experience is a plus

Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)

  • The salary range for this position is $78,000- $98,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
