The Electric Power Division currently has an opening for a Engineering Manager in the North Americas Diesel Solutions Engineering Team located in Griffin, GA. As an Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for leading a team of engineers working on project-based engineering designs for power system solutions. You will have prime product ownership. Coordinating delivery of designs with Mechanical and Electrical systems teams to deliver complex integrated solutions. You will work directly with Dealers, End Customers, Sales and other cross functional organizations to ensure customer specifications are understood and met with designs from broader engineering team. Keys to success in this role are in the ability to manage project plans, effectively communicate with process partners, and escalate issues as needed. You will manage the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn, and stay up to date on innovative technologies, mentor and coach team members, and deepen your professional network.

What you will do:

  • Lead global teams in the design of new products, processes, components, and systems

  • Provide technical guidance on product needs, analysis, and initiation of new ideas

  • Communicate results to global customers, suppliers, team members, and representatives from other business units

  • Complete projects on time and on cost

  • Acknowledge and raise customer’s and management’s awareness of trade-offs between time, resources, and quality

  • Direct supervision of technical salaried and management personnel

  • Manage budget for engineering team

What you will have:

Degree Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Mechanical, Agricultural Engineering or Engineering Technology

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze

situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks.

  • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.

  • Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.

  • Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.

  • Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

Effective Communications: Experience developing good communication and network, which enables to obtain the resources and cooperation needed to remove roadblocks, ensuring success of the team.

Voice of the team in meetings with multiple levels of management and with the customer.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge in balance of plant, engine or genset design, design of heavy structures, cooling systems, exhaust systems, enclosures, electrical distribution, electrical communication, or other related areas.

Knowledge and experience with building and genset codes (UL, NEC, IBC, FAS, CSA, OGS, etc).

  • Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

  • Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Managing People: : Working with people: facilitating cooperation and collaboration, clearly communicating project requirements and tasks while utilizing input from the team, translating information from the customer, management, and fellow team members.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Anticipates and manages difficult interpersonal situations and conflicts; resolves them to mutual satisfaction.

  • Consults within the team; seeks inputs from subordinates and considers all views while making decisions.

  • Implements coaching and mentoring programs to ensure the holistic development of employees.

Interpersonal, leadership, and strong communication skills are required for this position. Ever increasing skills in the role-based competencies of Managing Vision & Purpose, Decision making, and Negotiation are required.
