This role will focus on Asphalt-related projects (full cycle - initial bid through project management to completion) - this division accounts for $150mm in revenue and has a very healthy backlog. Summary: This role involves engagement over the project's entire lifecycle - from initial bid development & submittal through project completion. Specifically, you will: gather, calculate and compile data for use in developing competitive bids. Plan, develop, and coordinate construction engineering and project administration/management activities for multiple asphalt projects. We are looking for all levels of experience and will adapt the role accordingly - experienced personnel and new grads/industry personnel looking for a career change are encouraged to apply (training provided). Projects are local/regional! Very minimal travel is associated with this role - the vast majority of the projects are regional to the office and no overnight travel! Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Monitor job progress from initial project solicitation to complete project close-out. Review proposals, specifications, and drawings to determine scope of work and requirements of upcoming projects. Prepare competitively accurate estimates and formal bids for asphalt projects. Manage and maintain working documents for estimates including accurate information on prices from subcontractors and suppliers. Utilize historical production and cost data while working closely with co-workers to determine cost components to provide timely and accurate bids. Review bid requirements thoroughly, show creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing, and submit 100% of bids and budgets by the required deadlines. Develop project budgets, subcontracts, and purchase orders from bid data. Monitor all types of job cost on projects, provide input for beneficial changes, and adjust future bid procedures as appropriate. Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule. Provide technical support for the construction effort including participation in construction planning, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, and resolution of design conflicts. Represent the company, department, and/or project during client and project management meetings. Interface with all departments as required to resolve problems and ensure quality of construction. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction. Qualifications: Education and Experience: Civil Engineering or Construction-related degree preferred but not required. 4+ years of experience in lieu of a degree is a plus but not required.
