Atlantic Health System Special Procedures Tech in Hackettstown, New Jersey

Job Function: 01. PERFORMS ALL DUTIES AND TASKS REQUIRED OF A RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST IN ADDITION TO THE

INTERVENTIONAL TECHNOLOGIST REQUIREMENTS:

Can perform all Radiographic procedures: OR, Portables, Diagnostic exams, and sends images to PAC s, Workstations, and printers correctly. Adheres to RIS, PAC and CR protocols and procedures. Maintains all professional licensure and certifications as well as CPR, venipuncture and midline insertion (will train). Manipulates images using digital technology to best demonstrate anatomy and pathology, as well as vessel sizing for angioplasty and stent sizing. Properly maintains all documentation for each procedure. Utilizes the tech aides efficiently. Processes images and all associated paper work in a timely manner for dictation.

Job Function: 02. PREPARES EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR SPECIFIC PROCEDURES:

Obtains necessary medical, surgical and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols. Prepares sterile trays. Maintains sterility of field. Scrubs with Physician when necessary to assist with procedures. Maintains all QA/QC requirements. Logs procedures in appropriate books. Appropriately labels images in PAC. Recognizes unusual conditions in the operation of equipment and alerts appropriate staff of equipment malfunctions. Correctly utilizes the RIS, Radcode and the Superbill to ensure correct billing for the Interventional Procedures.

Job Function: 03. ENSURES PATIENTS PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COMFORT:

Verifies patient identification according to the AHS policy. (2 identifiers). Communicates to the patient and family as needed. Assists with correct positioning of patient for procedure. Assists with applying necessary monitoring equipment. Observes patient's condition and reports any sudden change to the nursing staff and Physician. Ensures availability of medicals records, previous reports, labs and history of patient. Is able to initiate emergency response in case of complication.

Job Function: 04. MAINTAINS SPECIFIC INVENTORY RECORDS AND ENSURES AREA IS STOCKED W ITH ADEQUATE SUPPLIES:

Is responsible for monitoring supplies. Rotates inventory according to expiration date. Notifies Lead tech of soon to expire product or low inventory. Notifies Lead tech of any product shared with OR or Cath Lab to ensure proper billing and replacement. Dates/labels medications according to JC standards.

Job Function: 05. COMMUNICATES EFFECTIVELY W ITH SUPERVISORS AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS:

Ensures continuity of information regarding equipment failure, supply shortages. Uses a pleasant and informative manner in communication with patients, patient's families, staff and other departments within the hospital. Maintains a pleasant and professional telephone manner. Maintains a cooperative relationship with co-workers within the department and throughout the hospital. Takes messages accurately, completely and relays to the proper personnel. Utilizes the paging system in a proper manner.

Job Function: 06. COORDINATES PROCEDURES:

Triages procedures accordingly to the daily schedule. Ensures timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests. Maintains workflow within the section. Communicates with all departments and floors with regards to patient status. Maintains open communication with charge nurse as to patient flow and emergency/add on procedures. Oversees arrival/verification/completion of procedures/charges in PAC.

Job Function: 07. PERFORMS ALL TASKS AS REQUIRED BY COORDINATOR AND LEAD STAFF:

Assists in performing routine procedures. Cleans Interventional Suite after each use. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of working area. Notifies Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions. Assists RNs in IR Holding Area.

Job Function: 08. PROFESSIONALISM:

Demonstrates reliability and consistency arriving to work on time, even in inclement weather. Addresses physicians in a professional manner. Returns to work promptly following lunch and breaks. Adheres to the Shared Values Respects fellow staff members Reports to Lead, Coordinator or Point person when leaving the department, and upon return to the department.

Job Function: 09. DISPLAYS THE ABILITY TO WORK UNDER STRESSFUL AND DIFFICULT SITUATIONS:

Supports all coworkers in completing all procedures that go beyond scheduled hours of operation. Maintains composure. Reaches logical conclusions and uses good judgment. Supports others in tense situations. Does not overreact. Responds appropriately during emergency situations. Assists staff as necessary during critical situations.

Job Function: 10. ADHERES TO THE STANDARDS OF CARE:

Enforces and adheres to proper staff attire. Enforces and adheres to aseptic and sterile technique. Enforces and adheres to AHS performance standards. Enforces and adheres to all department Policys and Procedures Other Tasks Which May be Required: In the absence of the Lead in IR works with charge RN and Radiologist to maintain an efficient workflow while maintaining an environment of patient safety. Ensures that reordering of all necessary product has been done. When acting as Point in EV maintains communication with IR Point and OR Charge RN to maintain adequate staffing for scheduled procedures and any add ons/emergencies.

Physical Requirements: As defined by Occupation Safety/OMS

Required Education and/or Experience:

Graduate of Accredited radiology program.

Current state license and registry.

Current IR, SPT, or CVT experience preferred.

BLS.
