NJ Employer Farm Laborer in Hammonton, New Jersey

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Picking Machine Operator - (Night Shift beginning at 7:00 pm weather permitting) Drive picking machines. Ride on back of picking machines: removing full crates from machine and stacking them on trailer. Replacing full crate on machine with an empty one. Crate Stackers: Take full crates from the trailer and stack them on the truck. Packing House Worker: (Day Shift beginning at 9:00 am weather permitting) Hand-jack operators moves fruit to packing line, moves completed pallets away from the packing line, wraps completed pallets and moves pallets to cooler. Dump crates of fruit onto conveyor belt, stacks the empty crates on a pallet and tapes them up. Empty lugs of fruit rejected by color sorter/soft sorter into giant bin. Pick out green/damaged berries on packing line. Put empty clamshells in fill by weight machine and place completed clamshells into crate. Stack completed crates/boxes onto a pallet. Operate Forklift. Clean packing line at the end of each day: Sweep floors, clean conveyor belts and machinery, clean drains. Washing crates using crate washer machine. Packing house packs 100% of its own fruit. The packing house is located on work-site property, see attached aerial view. Blueberry Hand Picker: (Day Shift beginning at 9:00 am weather permitting) Picks blueberries by hand. Fill crates completely so dividers do not show and carry filled crate to truck, taking an empty one back out to the field. Ticketer: (Day Shift beginning at 9:00 am weather permitting) Hands out tickets to hand pickers when they bring a full crate to the truck. Checks to make sure crate is completely filled and dividers are covered. Scan each employee badge and ticket before giving ticket to employee. Stacks each completed crate on box truck. Drive farm trucks to haul tools/materials, plants, shovels, rakes, etc. to the fields and fruit from the fields to the packing house. Weeding: (Day Shift beginning at 9:00 am weather permitting) Raking, shoveling, hand pulling weeds. Weeds are left in the field, not put in containers. Spraying of weeds using a backpack sprayer. Walking up and down each row spraying weeds. Walking to spray truck to have backpack refilled when empty. Driving tractor while towing a broadcast spray tank to spray weeds. Drivers tractor up and down each row. (This tractor driver will be responsible for mixing weed spray and refilling the tank when empty) Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent position for long periods of time.
