Job Summary

The Supervisor oversees all Project Controllers (5-7 PSEG and Contractors). Responsibilities include: monthly, quarterly, yearly Project Cost Control reporting, developing and maintaining procedures and processes for Capital Project Cost Controls, ensuring Project Controller training and proficiency, and lead for Engage Project software module management. Will support the additional Capital Projects related to the New Generation group. This position allows the Manager of Project Controls to provide strategic direction for the entire Controls group (including Technical Clerks, Estimators, and Schedulers), more direct ownership of the capital checkbooks, and oversight of cost controls to the Strategic Projects group.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision to all Project Controllers in the maintenance of routine cost control reporting. Ensures capital project controls are maintained per Corporate and Nuclear financial controls guidelines and procedures. Verifies project monthly, quarterly, and annual expenditures are within authorization and coordinates all funding changes are scheduled and presented with Nuclear Finance. Directs the preparation and presentation of monthly Project Status Reports.

  • Developing and maintaining procedures and processes for Capital Project Cost Controls. Controls all Project Controls process changes. Performs industry benchmarking for continuous improvement.

  • Lead for Engage Project software module management. Directs vendor maintenance and changes related to Project Management software modules.

  • Cost Controller development and training. Ensures Controllers are properly trained and obtain/maintain industry certifications. Provides cost control guidance to non-Project Management groups and oversees cost controls for non-managed Projects. Supervises Technical Clerks performing requisition and invoice creation, settlement, and payment.

  • Cost Controller performance and contractor maintenance. Performs yearly performance evaluations for all PSEG Controllers. Assesses and manages performance of all Contract Controllers.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors in Business or Technical discipline with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. In lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experienced with Financial Controls related to large Capital Projects.

  • Experienced in managing personnel, balancing workload, and interfacing with Project Managers.

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, taxation, and SOX requirements.

  • Good understanding of inventory cost management as it relates to capitalization.

  • Knowledgeable in SAP or related buisness managementsoftware.

  • Good presentation skills.

Desired

  • Project Management and/or Project Cost Control Certifications.

  • MBA.
