The Manager of Learning and Capacity Building will support the Youth Division’s leaders and staff to strengthen skills and build knowledge to maintain and improve high-quality, data driven programs. Along with the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development, the person in this role will assist with developing a learning and development model that aligns with the agency’s strategy and vision. The Manager of Learning and Capacity Building will support the Youth Division with strategic planning, technical assistance, data collection and results focused reporting. The person in this role will report to the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct site visits to assess, plan and implement staff trainings, model evidence – based practices, and provide resources as needed.

  • Work with senior level staff to create and document a learning and development model with the goal of informing the agency’s overall vision, approach and strategies for high quality, high impact youth and adolescent services.

  • Maintain and refine tracking systems, including entering participant and program level data into various databases and ensure that systems are up to date.

  • Conduct surveys of sites to help the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development assess learning and capacity building needs and to track and analyze trends.

  • Manage Learning Management Systems and communicate with vendors as needed.

  • Help drive internal and external understanding of the Youth Division’s vision and development opportunities in alignment with the agency’s goals.

  • Establish a connection and serve as a liaison between the Youth Division, DYCD, DOE and other city agencies in matters related to learning and development.

  • Manage communication and information about trainings and development from the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development; track and follow up on programs’ completion of trainings.

  • Take and synthesize meeting notes and facilitate action items and follow up.

  • Design visually compelling materials (fliers, presentations) to promote training opportunities.

  • Work closely with the National Center for Community Schools and other partnerships to ensure that best practices are integrated into both local and national work.**

  • Help to establish a yearly divisional progress report.

  • Coordinate and help organize in-person trainings

  • Stay current and knowledgeable of trends in the non profit field around learning and development, capacity building and technologies used.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Senior Deputy Director of Learning and Development.

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; preferably in education, youth development, or a related field.

*Key Competenices: *

  • 2-3 years’ experience in community engagement, non-profit partnerships, or communications.

  • 2-3 years’ experience working in of school or community center settings

  • At least 1 year of experience with a Learning Management platforms is a plus

  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, on-line data management systems

  • Well versed in creating data centered presentations

  • Graphic design skills a plus

  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills and otherwise strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time

  • Creative approach to developing workshop tools, materials and resources including oral and written material, posters and slide decks

  • Adaptable to new systems and processes

  • Understanding of adult learning principles is a plus
