DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will work with state and federal veterinarians, and other health professionals and stakeholders in conducting epidemiological investigations to determine domestic animal exposure, disease source/risk factors, and potential spread related to diseases such as rabies and avian influenza. With a working knowledge of Pennsylvania rabies law and of the rabies virus, you will be be responsible for explaining the applicable laws and disease epidemiology to stakeholders, veterinarians, and other health professionals, and be able to conduct a thorough rabies investigation. Work performed in this position ensures compliance with Bureau laws and regulations, mitigates regulatory disease events, and implements domestic animal disease control programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is home headquartered in Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Franklin, Adams, York, Lancaster Counties. This position will require reporting to 2301 North Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17710 for non-inspection/office work. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Graduation from an approved Veterinary Medical Technology Training program and two (2) years of experience in the raising or handling of animals used for a variety of commercial purposes including food animals and farm animals; or A bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, Dairy Science, Poultry Science, or a closely related area with at least 16 credits in animal science; or An equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Special Requirement: This position requires current certification as a Poultry Technician or the ability to gain certification during the probationary period. This position requires possession of a valid class C driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
