Reference #: 4465248 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation in Dauphin County is currently looking for a driver license examiner assistant. This role involves overseeing the application and knowledge testing procedures for Pennsylvania's driver licensing program, both for commercial and non-commercial drivers. The hiring office specifically requires applicants who are fluent in Spanish, as there is a constant need for individuals who can provide information and support to Spanish-speaking customers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this position, your main responsibilities will involve interacting directly with customers to verify their identification, assisting them in completing application forms, and inputting their information into an online driver license application software. Additionally, you will be responsible for administering standardized knowledge tests to assess applicants' understanding of the Vehicle Code, driving laws, and traffic control devices. A vision screening using a telebinocular instrument will be conducted to assess the visual acuity of all applicants. It will be your duty to accurately enter applicant test results and customer applications into online software systems using a PC terminal. It is crucial that you strictly adhere to the customer service policy of Driver and Vehicle Services. Furthermore, you will be accountable for ensuring the correct fee waiver code is utilized and properly documented whenever a fee waiver is required for a customer transaction. You must comply with all aspects of the Fee Waiver Guidelines. Finally, you may be assigned other related duties as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week. Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday- Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel are required. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public. Legal Requirements: This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
