Position Overview

The Financial Operations Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the accounting function including reviewing documents, transactions, and worksheets related to the accounting system.  This individual performs reconcilements of various general ledger accounts and maintains proper supporting documentation in accordance with established policies & procedures.  In addition, the Financial Operations Specialist coordinates work within the department, as well as with other departments and is responsible for reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information and assisting the immediate supervisor with administrative tasks to support department operations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for company-wide monitoring system for all Asset, Liability, Equity, Internal DDA, Income Verification and Salary accounts.
  • Reviews various documents, transactions, and worksheets relating to the accounting system.
  • Performs required reconcilements of various accounts within the Finance department; maintains proper supporting documentation.
  • Provides back-up support with the cash ordering, recording data into cash logs and shipping function.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Compiles information for internal and external auditors. 
  • Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy. 

Ancillary Duties

  • Performs tasks, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

     Education & Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.

  • One year of relevant experience in accounting, finance or reconcilements strongly preferred.

     Skill(s)

Proficient reading, writing, grammar skills; proficient mathematics skills; strong knowledge of accounting debits/credits and reconcilement processes; above average attention to detail and ability to process information with high levels of accuracy; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; moderate PC skills; moderate report-writing and analytical skills; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills.
