Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Fingerprint Technician in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

The Bureau of Records and Identification, Fingerprint Identification Unit is seeking a detail-oriented Fingerprint Technician to work in a 24/7 operation performing automated and manual classification, searching, and matching of fingerprints. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will utilize the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS) to perform high-level technical work in the analysis, classification, and identification of fingerprints. This includes criminal and applicant fingerprint submissions provided by criminal justice agencies and vendors via live scan or card scan. You will analyze fingerprint submissions to verify correct sequencing to classify, identify, and assign primary and reference pattern types. You will also make identity determinations through the analysis of side-by-side images. The results of this process will determine positive or non-positive identification of an individual that may result in the update of existing files and records, as well as the creation of a record within the Central Repository and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) files. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (40-hour work week) Work hours are rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays. This position is not eligible for telework. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,883.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months of experience in the identification and non-identification of individuals through fingerprint and palm print examination, comparison, and verification; or Successful completion of the fingerprint identification course offered by the Pennsylvania State Police.

You must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
