The Bureau of Community Health Systems (BCHS) is seeking a Public Health Physician to provide medical expertise to our health and medical professionals, other government personnel, community groups, the news media, and the general public concerning a myriad of clinical practices and preventive medicine issues. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will provide consultation, medical direction, and clinical standards for all programs and clinics conducted by BCHS. This includes providing clinical consultation to nurses regarding immunization schedules, vaccine contraindications and adverse reactions, and testing and treatment of tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.

The Public Health Physician also issues Standing Orders for BCHS staff, provides medical consultation to healthcare providers, participates in bureau data modernization and improvement efforts, and provides patient-specific prescriptions for prophylaxis/treatment of infectious diseases as a provider of last resort. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Graduation with a degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathy from a medical school approved or recognized by the Pennsylvania Medical Licensing Board or the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Licensing Board and completion of an approved U.S. residency training program; and two (2) years of professional medical experience, including one (1) year in a public health setting. Special Requirements: You must possess a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania issued by the State Medicine Board or Osteopathic Medicine Board; or eligibility for such licensure. Candidates must obtain the required license prior to beginning employment. Allocation Term: Public Health Public Health is defined as the provision of health care services, treatment, prevention and/or detection of disease for targeted population groups within a community at large, with a goal of optimal health for all. It does not involve provision of services on an isolated, individual basis. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
