DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position, in the Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries, Division of Statistical Registries, supports the bureau's mission of managing a statewide death registry through its responsibility for the interpretation, entry, and validation activities related to the medical information on death cases. You will review reports and medical certification worksheets to interpret causes of death and enter data into the Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS). Additionally, you will validate death case data to ensure it is timely and accurate, make necessary minor edits to assure data quality, and maintain a log to track the completeness of medical and demographic data for death cases.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Limited-term full-time wage position with benefits (Bronze Plan). Duration of employment is approximately six months with possible extension for an additional 6 months. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. This position will have two weeks minimum of mandatory on-site training. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You would report into the office one day scheduled per month and as needed for training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school; or Graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
