SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Peer Support Assistant uses their own unique, life-altering experience in order to guide and support others who are in some form of mental health recovery. Works in conjunction with highly trained and educated professionals. They fill a gap by providing support from the perspective of someone who has first-hand experience, something that professionals cannot learn from training or education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
High School Diploma.
Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience.
Act 31 training completion required within 45 days of hire.
Peer Specialist Certification or enrolled in training to obtain certification within 6 months or hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- Certified Peer Support Specialist designation preferred.
