UPMC Respiratory Care Intern in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

The Respiratory Care Intern role provides a wonderful opportunity for respiratory students to gain hands-on experience in the field, with a flexible work schedule that is set around classes. Shifts are 4 hours, 4 days per week, and the hourly pay rate is $17.46/hour.

Purpose: Respiratory Care Interns will enhance their clinical skills and knowledge in a CoARC approved program, under supervision, to prepare for licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs).

Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct clinical research and patient care.

  • Accurate record-keeping and communication with healthcare staff.

  • Administer respiratory therapies and medications as prescribed.

  • Perform diagnostic tests and patient assessments.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle, maintain, and repair respiratory therapy equipment.

  • Document care in medical records and adhere to hospital policies.

  • Stay informed and trained on respiratory care practices.

  • Prioritize cleanliness, courtesy, and patient-focused service.

  • Currently enrolled in a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care.

  • The intern must have completed one semester of clinical rotations at a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
