As a Senior Manager – Software Engineering at CVS Health, you'll play a crucial role in building and delivering high-quality software that enhances customer experiences. You'll be involved in all phases of software engineering, from requirements analysis to deployment, while adhering to agile software development methodologies. Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of our business.

As a Senior Manager – Software, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of software and data engineers working on data-intensive applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives and high-quality delivery.

  • Enthusiastically participate in the design and development of software solutions. The manager will actively participate and own the solutions in their portfolio.

  • Drive initiatives to improve security, quality, monitoring and operational excellence.

  • Manage and prioritize projects, providing clear communication on timelines, risks and deliverables.

  • Mentor junior staff on best practices for software engineering including participating in code reviews, ensuring robust tests and leveraging automation wherever possible.

  • Curiously explore new solutions that drive value. We’re leveraging a wide set of modern tools, so technicians are expected to push the envelope.

  • Manage staffing and promote a positive atmosphere.

  • Work closely with other managers, product owners, data scientists and engineers to produce highly scalable solutions.

  • Contribute to IT project planning and governance by providing quantitative cost/benefit analysis; ensure team is following work, documentation, certification, and audit requirements, as needed.

You will be intellectually challenged to solve problems associated with large scale complex, structured and unstructured data, that will allow you to grow your technical skills and engineering expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with designing and building software engineering solutions in cloud environments (preferably Google Cloud Platform).

  • 5+ years of experience in one or more modern languages, such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, etc.

  • 5+ years of experience with APIs, microservices, real-time systems and modern software patterns

  • 3+ years of managing and leading teams of four or more individual contributors

  • 3+ years of soliciting complex requirements and managing relationships with key stakeholders

  • 3+ years of experience independently managing deliverables in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to present and promote ideas within a complex operating environment.

  • Breadth of expertise within big data, machine learning, AI, web development and cloud technology.

  • Solid understanding of data architecture principles and proven experience in designing and developing scalable data systems.

  • Track record of translating abstract ideas into solutions.

  • Experience in owning applications end to end throughout the SDLC.

  • Advanced proficiency in development and productivity tools such as Jira, Git, Confluence, code editors, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, Postman, Swagger, etc. in support of maximizing team effectiveness.

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Scrum Master or Consultant is a huge plus.

  • Health insurance or healthcare IT background is highly desirable.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $284,280.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
