DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Tax Account Collections Technician, you will utilize great deal of technical tax knowledge to conduct research and examine individual tax returns. This includes reviewing, calculating, and adjusting accounts based on appeal decisions and orders. You will also invalidate bad checks, assess the appropriate fees, and review and complete write-off and compromise requests. Effective verbal and written communication skills are key for explaining Department notices to taxpayers and their representatives, and for reviewing correspondence. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time with one day per month in office required, after the completion of inhouse training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws and rules and regulations and making taxpayer liability decisions; or Three years of experience in the collection of taxes; or Three year of experience in the provision of taxpayer assistance which involves the explanation of the application of tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the required knowledges, skills and abilities.

Legal Requirements:

This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
