This is an individual contributor role that supports pricing and financial performance for Group Retiree Health and TRICARE Supplement. For more than 30 years, The Hartford's Group Retiree Health insurance has been successfully helping employers cater to the special needs of retirees, many of whom rely primarily on Medicare to cover their medical expense.

Responsibilities include:• Support rate manual and pricing tools updates. • Work closely with UW and Sales on case specific pricing for large cases, providing insightful analysis on individual cases that impacts the profitability of the business • Support renewal pricing strategy :o Analyze historical claims experience, project anticipated impacts due to changes to Medicare, and review actuarial analysis published by the U.S. Government and other sources to help determine future claims trend.o Propose expense factors to be used in pricing.• Model profitability and support the development of the annual operating plan. • Partner with our TPAs and internal data support team to ensure data used for pricing and monitoring is accurate and timely. Drive improvements in data availability, accuracy, and process efficiency.• Perform experience analysis to help determine rate increases needed for GRH Standardized Medicare Supplement products and ensure that The Hartford’s rating practice is consistent with state regulations.• Support regulatory reporting, including rate filings, refund calculation filings, exhibits for the NAIC Annual Statement, New York Market Stabilization reporting and annual audit.• Continually strive to simplify processes to increase efficiency.• Develop meaningful relationships with GB pricing actuaries and keep them updated on items that require their attention (rate filings, certifications, etc.).• Assist with analysis of other group benefits products.

Qualifications:• 2+ years of experience with demonstrated technical/analytical skills.• Effective oral and written communication skills.• Independently motivated; constantly looks for areas to add value while remaining flexible in an ever-changing business environment.• Collaboration skills including the ability to effectively communicate and influence individuals at different organizational levels.• Knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques preferred.

Location:This role is a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our locations will have the expectation of working in a minimum of 3 days a week in the office (Tuesday through Thursday), additional in office days are at the discretion of the candidate. Candidates who do not live near an office should maintain their current work arrangement with the expectation of coming into the office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$75,000 - $130,000

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
