Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$63,100.00 - $104,100.00

What Is the Opportunity?

The intent of this position is to provide our internal employees, 2024 Travelers Summer Interns and Summer Students the ability to apply to our 2025 Full-time or Intern opportunities. Applications outside of this audience will not be considered at this time. However, for additional positions posted at a later date we encourage anyone who was not an internal employee, Summer Intern or Summer Student between June 2024-August 2024 to apply at that time.

These are some of the defining qualities for participants of our Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP). This three-year rotational program is designed to grow and develop your human resources and self-leadership skills. Each rotation will consist of a combination of hands-on experience, access to a robust business operations curriculum, and a formal mentoring program to prepare you for a dynamic career. You will have the opportunity to explore multiple functions of business operations while learning from different leaders within Travelers. Graduates of the program will be prepared to handle a variety of roles with leadership opportunities designed to meet emerging business needs. As an Operations LDP participant, you will model the way for others and set a personal example of what is expected. You will be expected to positively challenge processes and identify new and innovative ways to get work done more effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to take initiative, embrace change, actively listen to and support diverse points of view and celebrate the success of others. What Will You Do?

  • The program is multi-faceted and offers an operations and business development curriculum focused on human resources, insurance, strategy, leading self and influencing others. Other program components include formal mentoring, networking and career guidance.

  • OLDP participant duties will vary based on the specific rotation, but will be within one or more of the areas outlined below:

  • Operational Effectiveness & Strategy, including Process Analysis and Lean Six Sigma

  • Project Management using Agile methodologies

  • Data & Analytics with industry leading tools

  • Technology & Digital Enablement to modernize business platforms

  • Field Office Frontline Management

  • Senior Leadership Team experiences

  • Participants are also exposed to other functional teams including actuarial, finance, underwriting, and product.

  • Approx. 10% Travel required.

  • Participants are required to fulfill one rotation of a minimum of 12 months in a field office location. This rotation may require relocation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.

  • 1 year of related experience (may include one or more internship experiences).

  • Accountability: Strong track record of taking ownership and responsibility for actions and outcomes, performance, and results.

  • Analytical and Critical Thinking: Demonstrated aptitude in identifying current or future problems or opportunities, analyzing data, synthesizing and comparing information to understand issues, identifying cause/effect relationships and exploring alternative solutions to support sound decision making.

  • Change Management/Resilience: Ability to remain energized and focused in the face of ambiguity, change or strenuous demands.

  • Customer Focus: Proven customer service skills with the ability to provide service excellence to internal or external clients.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Demonstrated track record of self and social awareness, empathy and balances confidence with humility.

  • Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills with the ability to actively engage with others while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Judgment/Decision Making: Capability of exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position.

  • Leveraging Differences: Proven capacity to works with and include people from different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, races, etc. and view those differences as assets to be leveraged to accomplish business goals and objectives.

  • Relationship Management: Strong relationship management skills including the ability to seek out, build, foster and maintain productive relationships, networks or alliances to meet goals and achieve results.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work together in situations when actions are interdependent, and a team is mutually responsible to produce a result.

  • Work Ethic: Possession of a strong drive to do what it takes to get the job done; inquisitive and demonstrates a strong willingness to learn.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree or one year of insurance experience.

  • Majors include, but are not limited to: Business Management, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Liberal Arts and Science, Risk Management, Supply Chain and Operations.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future.
