Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$91,300.00 - $150,600.00

What Is the Opportunity?

This individual will be a leader in driving cutting-edge technology, developing source code and assisting in determining the future of the Travelers IaC (Infrastructure as Code) platform, Data and Analytics technology direction and AI integration. This individual will participate in overall organization platform strategy and will work across business and technology teams to ensure proper alignment between business solutions and systems architecture for the organization where it relates to new technologies and use cases. The individual will be a highly skilled platform engineer with an extensive knowledge across many different technologies and practices.

What Will You Do?

  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, prioritize projects, and create alignment with overall Travelers Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) organizational needs

  • Interface with software vendors and employees within the organization with regards to emerging technologies and new product testing

  • Be a partner in the enterprise design roadmap, providing business, governance and technical recommendations

  • Participate in the Request for Information (RFI) process with vendors on exploration of emerging tools Travelers is interested in investigating

  • Help develop the technology framework for success, ensuring best practices are in place and being followed as it relates to emerging technologies and as it relates to Travelers established guidelines

  • Assist in the onboarding of emerging technologies in either a Proof of Technology or a Proof of Concept fashion

  • Partner with architecture teams on developing the overall strategic vision for Travelers technology road map

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Presentation and writing skills

  • Interpersonal skills to gather information about organizational needs and to be able to provide feedback on options and techniques for success

  • Basic knowledge of platform design and integration

  • Developer background with skills in modern development practices and software development life cycle processes (SDLC)

  • Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages such as Python, Go, Java

  • Proficiency in Terraform and preferably AWS CloudFormation or CDK

  • Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP - Preferably AWS

  • Familiarity with AWS Well architected framework.

  • Well versed in development and building in Docker Containers

  • Experience with AWS EKS, ECS and Kubernetes clusters.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GIT Actions

  • Familiarity with GIT (Branching strategies, Forking, etc)

  • Knowledge or experience using Database technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon RDS etc

  • Ability to research and debug technology setup challenges through independent research or vendor technical discussion.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-teach/self-learn new technologies and apply them to problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to share learnings with other technology team members in a positive encouraging manner.

  • Deep technology understanding of Linux, Windows, AWS, Azure, GCP, AI, GPUs, HPC (High Performance Computing)

  • Experience with using logging, monitoring and instrumentation tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, ELK.

  • Architecture design skills

What is a Must Have?

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, required.

  • Three years of experience in Technology required.
